January 2014 Linden Gallery, 26 Acland Street St Kilda- Verandah Restoration

Survey and measure up of Linden Gallery is underway as part of a future verandah restoration project.

December 2013 Melbourne Camera Club, 256 Ferrars Street, South Melbourne

A package of parapet restoration works is in preparation at the historic former Freemasons Hall which has been home to the Melbourne Camera Club for 40 years. The parapet restoration project follows up a building condition survey.

November 2013 Immaculate Conception Church Hawthorn- Main tower- stonework restoration

Documentation is complete for restoration of the main tower’s Sandstone upper section at the base of the central spire. Restoration works are scheduled for early 2014.

October 2013 - Camberwell Town Hall, Roof Restoration- Stage 1 and Stage 2

Stage 1 of the Town Halls’ roof restoration was completed in 16 October 2013. The project was completed within time and budget by SIDA constructions. Additional works arising included reconstruction of one section of balustraded parapet and complete cleaning of the roof spaces which included removal of over two tons of redundant metal service ducts, pipes, wire and cables.

Work has now commenced on survey, scoping and documentation for Stage 2 including the east lantern roof, clock tower and facades.

September 2103 - The Australian Club, 110 William Street Melbourne

MTA&H has been appointed architect to the Australian Club, Melbourne. Future projects include restoration of the main stair; construction of a new passenger lift and new basement storage.

August 2013 - Hawthorn Rifle Club/ Glenferrie Oval Rifle Range

City of Boroondara has confirmed engagement to carry out design of a new rifle range replacing the existing home of the Hawthorn Rifle Club. The project is located on the fringe of Hawthorns’ Grace Park Estate and lies within a precinct of sporting and recreational buildings including the State registered Michael Tuck Stand.

July 2013 - Melbourne Children’s Court

Briefing and architectural work has commenced on refurbishment works at Melbourne Children’s Court to improve facilities for children and staff. Scope includes a new Children’s Room, remote witness facilities, Client Support Room and a new ground floor reception desk.

June 2013 - Former Oriental Hotel, Williamstown

An expert witness submission for the former Oriental Hotel has been prepared for Save Williamstown Inc. Local residents are opposing an application to VCAT to demolish Williamstowns’ oldest surviving hotel.

May 2013 - 2 Davis Road, Diggers Rest

The final draft Conservation Management Plan for the former farm house at 2 Davis Road, Diggers Rest has been submitted to the project planners WBIC. The CMP is required as part of Shire of Melton’s the Precinct Structure Plan for redevelopment of the former agricultural site as a new residential suburb.

May 2013 - Pleasant Homes Ballarat

Michael Taylor Architecture & Heritage has been commissioned by Billard Leece Architects and Ballarat Healthcare to provide heritage advice for the proposed development of temporary residential accommodation for patients undergoning cancer treatment and a separate Mother and baby unit. The site is located within a City of Ballarat Heritage Overlay and retains four historic dwellings.

April 2013 - Children’s Court Conference Centre, Level 5, 436 Lonsdale Street Melbourne

The centre for new model conferences was launched by Attorney-General Robert Clarke MP on 23 April 2103. The 1000m2 centre is located in the historic State Government Building. The centre accommodates eight conference rooms, 16 breakout rooms, legal practitioners’ lounge, a conference and training room and accommodation for 24 court staff. The project was designed, documented and built between October 2012 and April 2013 by a project team including Melbourne Children’s Court, Department of Justice, Fisher Volpasso Group Builders and Michael Taylor Architecture & Heritage.

April 2013- Strzelecki Monument Traralgon

Michael Taylor Architecture & Heritage engaged for relocation and restoration of the Strzelecki Memorial Traralgon. The 1926 monument commemorates the passage of explorer Count Strzelecki in 1826. It is being relocated 300 metres west of its current location to allow for Widening of the Princes Highway. The memorial shall be placed in a new, safely accessible roadside location. Conservation works to metal plaques, render and paint shall also be carried out to improve the condition and appearance of the monument.

March 2013 - The Parkville Store, 52 Morrah Street, Parkville

Town Planning approval has been granted by City of Melbourne for the reconstruction of the shopfront windows and traditional “ingo” style entry to the Parkville’s only cafe. Established in in 1884, the Parkville Store is terrace building with a dwelling over the shop. The cafe interior was refurbished by new owners in late 2012 and re-opened in January 2013 see parkvillestore.com.au.

March 2013 - Camberwell Town Hall, Roof Restoration.

Tenders have been submitted for restoration of the slate roofs at Camberwell Town Hall. The restoration works were scoped and documented by Michael Taylor Architecture and Heritage in June 2012. Works are expected to commence in June 2013.
